DID systems often share common roles for alters, such as primary protectors, persecutors, memory/trauma holders, etc. Though, not all systems share the same definition of each type of role. Each system may also have unique roles that cater to their type of trauma and coping mechanisms. These are the types of roles this system currently have:

    The alter that identifies with the physical body.

  • Core

    The alter that carries the body’s original “soul”.

  • Protector

    Alters that specialize in specific areas of life.

  • shield

    Alters that compartmentalize specific daily challenges.

  • Caretaker

    Alters that sooth the system & take care of the littles.

  • Persecutor

    Misguided alters that self-sabotages the system.

  • Memory Holder

    Alters that carry specific chunks of memories that aren’t commonly shared with others.

  • convertor

    Alters that filter specific types of memories to other alters.

  • Survival holder

    Alters that carry trauma-related symptoms that helped aid their survival.

  • knowledge holder

    Alters that carry specific chunks of information & learns more about their subject.
